Science Fiction Day

Wacky Holidays

By Cathy Fox-Christensen January 2, 2018

Today we celebrate the genre known as Science Fiction. Growing up I loved reading HP Lovecraft, Asimov, Bradbury, Shelley and many others. By far my favorite would be Shelley's Frankenstein. She wrote a piece that was considered ahead of her time. The thought of creating another human from other human parts was fiction then and albeit the story is factious but with the onset on modern medicine and the advances in transplantation suddenly her novel is a bit of reality. Who is your favorite sci fi writer?

To celebrate have your kids pick out a sci fi book and have them read it to you or you read it to them. Science Fiction can lead them to think about what can happen in the future so making fiction real.
